Worker Dies At School For Deaf And Blind - Greenville News Story - WYFF Greenville
A 27-year-old construction worker at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind died Wednesday day after falling from a ladder.
School Communications Director Katie Rice said the worker was an employee of Bobby Jackson Electrical in Spartanburg, a subcontractor working on renovations at the Herbert Center on the SCSDB campus in Spartanburg.
Project manager D. J. Doherty said the incident is under investigation. Doherty said the worker, who was an electrical contractor, fell around 7:30 a.m.
Spartanburg County Coroner's Office Dwayne Corn identified the worker as Joseph Daniel Hall of Spartanburg. Corn said Hall was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:29 AM.
An autopsy was being conducted Wednesday afternoon to determine the cause of death.
The School for the Deaf and the Blind issued this statement:
“Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family upon their loss. The contractor, subcontractor and local officials are currently investigating the cause of death.
We commend our campus emergency team and local emergency medical services for responding quickly and appropriately. We will continue to keep the family in our thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.”
