CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A Florida woman is being punished for swallowing too many carats.

Mary Denise Flowers, 38, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation Monday for swallowing a 1.5 carat diamond ring at a jewelry store. Her snack was caught by a surveillance camera.

The ring was later recovered in a jailhouse commode, and will be sent to Littman Jewelers' corporate headquarters in Oregon to be melted down.

Flowers did not have a previous criminal record. She was also ordered to pay fines and court costs totaling more than $1,000.

The judge withheld a formal finding of adjudication, meaning Flowers will have a clean record if she completes probation without violation.

Ewwwwww, try to imagine how will she finds her "swollen diamonds" again!!

Well it says it was found (my guess is she crapped it out) and then they sent it to a company to have it melted down and i would imagine remade.

That woman is nuts :)

*arches her eyebrows at this* she must've been quite desperate in having that particular ring! :D

I'm just imagining being her jail guardian and holding a collander under her till she produced it! :laugh2:

That lady is nuts.. I cannot imagine someone swallowing that.. I did hear one story about a lady in the Holocaust, she had a favorite posession of hers that she didnt want to give to the nazis so she kept swallowing her diamonds.. She survived the concentration camps and still had her diamonds after the war... She had it remade again into a tear which represents her tears in swallowing the diamonds.. It's a story that just reminded me that I thought you guys would like to hear, she's a brave lady! Some people swallow diamonds for a reason but for stealing them.. no no..

lol that story reminded me of another story when an old man with some kind of mental illness, feels hunger for ANYTHING in his way, and he've eat about 300 coins (more or less, I cant exactly remember the amount but I'm sure it was alot) and it causes his stomach to gain and then bend down into his hips, and they had to take him to surgey to get ALL of the coins out, but he died afew days later because he wasn't in really good health then :(

This reminds me of a phrase,

"You're so tight-assed that if I were to shove a piece of coal up your ass, you'd shit out a diamond!"

:laugh2: What a stupid lady!..she must that desperate to want to steal that
diamond ring!...and it wasnt worth it either!
I found a beautiful diamond ring in the parking lot last summer, it was gorgeous 3 diamond ring..did i keep it? nope! My husband called the "Swap shop" on the radio where you can sell, buy stuff and also lost and found..said only a few words, no description of it, that i found the ring..got two calls, the first one said "is it an eternity band of several diamonds in it?"
hubby said "nope"..the second call..bingo! the guy described it to a "T" and said that his fiancee lost it at the certain parking lot where i found it but she wasnt sure if she lost it there or at the grocery store..she got it back and she was so grateful! Makes us feel good to do something honest to return someone's ring..the guy said he is making big payments on it so can you imagine that? Some people would be dishonest and pawn it or just keep it for themselves..ya know?

Thanks! Liza...nope they didnt and it was "just thank you very much" thats all! Thats good enough for us..at least they "thanked us". The reason she "lost" the ring was that it was too big for her finger and didnt realized that it slipped off so when she claimed it, she said that she and her fiance are going straight to the jewelry store and have it fitted so it wont happen again..good idea huh? lol!
