LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. -- A 62-year-old woman died Saturday, one day after an explosion at a hyperbaric chamber at a clinic in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said Vincenza Pesce passed away at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Her 4-year-old grandson, who was inside the chamber, remains in critical condition.
Authorities said she was holding the boy during the blast.
Hyperbaric chambers are filled with 100 percent oxygen and can be used to treat diving injuries and other illnesses and wounds.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast.
