PD: Woman arrested after attack on mom, 1-year-old - Phoenix Arizona news, breaking news, local news, weather radar, traffic from ABC15 News | ABC15.com

A 10-year-old girl apparently upset a woman so much by staring at her that the woman started yelling, then attacked the girl's mother and her 1-year-old sister, according to court documents.

The 10-year-old girl is deaf and her mother, Tanya Goodson, a single mother of five, said she's always taught her children to be above board and disregard nasty comments.

The mom and the two children were at an apartment complex near Gilbert Road and Main Street on Aug. 29 when apparently the woman began yelling at the girl.

"We kept walking and this girl starts yelling and says 'tell your daughter to stop staring at me,'" said Goodson.

That's when Goodson said she told the woman her 10-year-old daughter is deaf.

"She's completely deaf in one ear and almost completely deaf in the other," she said.

But the taunting continued, even after she said she explained her daughter's impairment.

"I said my daughter is deaf, my daughter looks at people in their face to communicate," Goodson said.

But Goodson said her response was suprising because the woman told her she doesn't look deaf to her.

At that point, Goodson said she told her children to walk away.

"I kept walking, she jumped on my back, I had the baby stroller with me," said Goodson.

That's when police said her 1-year-daughter fell to the concrete, causing a black eye.

"I was defenseless, the stroller was on my feet," she said, "I didn't want to kick because if I kicked or tried to move I would hurt my own baby."

That's when she said her 10-year-old deaf daughter jumped in and broke up the fight.

Viniecia Jordan, 26, was arrested Sunday night, accused of assaulting the 1-year-old and her mom.

"I had a black eye," said Goodson, who also needed stitches.

ABC15 spoke to Jordan's family on Monday.

They said Goodson provoked the fight and put her child in harms way.

They said Jordan would never do anything to hurt a child.
