So I'm going to start a project of my own soon, but first I have some questions.

I am wanting to make a video of bits and pieces of home videos, use some music (I already picked a song I want to use) and create it all on Windows Movie Maker. Now you are talking to a person that has never ever touched Windows Movie Maker. We were supposed to learn how to use it in Communications Technology last year, but long story short, the teacher wasn't very good.

So the first thing I need to know is... how can I burn DVDs (we have 4 of them with lots of footage I can use) onto my computer so I have the files? Do I just use the "burn" feature in Windows Media?

Secondly, I am getting the music I want from a friend. How do I put it onto Windows Movie Maker so that it's in the background but you can still hear *some* of the audio ("some" being the keyword... I don't want all of the audio being on the video... just certain scenes where the audio makes the scene) from the original tapes?

Lastly, how do I break up the files to where I can get only the scenes that I want to place in Windows Media Maker?

Lots of other questions may come up throughout this process, but if anyone can answer some of these questions for me, that would be awesome! :)

1 - Yes, you can burn it into a DVD, but as long your computer has a DVD/CD burner where it will be able to burn, so hihly likely your PC does have one.

2 - Just drag and drop into the specific area.

3 - yyou will need to use the crop edit feature.

if you are looking at making a good film, I hihgly suggest you to use Vegas software instead, which I have 1 and hardly use! I should start learning how to use it. :/

Thanks JClarke! :)

I'm not wanting really really high quality, but I would like it to be good. Is the Vegas software you speak of free and downloadable?

Unfortunately no and it is expensive. I know, I own one it costed me nearly $300 about a year ago.
