I've never done anything fancy for Easter. I didn't grow up in a religious home. Even now it is only myself and my DD that attends church out of the whole family. We would have the Easter dinner and the egg hunts and the occasional chocolate bunny, but that's it.

I never attended an Easter service until I was in my 20s.

I don't mean to mislead you, but this is just a secular holiday for me. I don't celebrate it in a religious way.

Aside from attending Easter services on Easter Sunday - it's not a religious holiday, it's about eating a Spring feast with the family and having an egg hunt for the kids.

I'm not religious, but like many people on here I will not pass up the opportunity for good food :) I like the Cadbury creme eggs (and the caramel ones too) and I'll also happily eat the cadbury candy-covered chocolate eggs. (I can't remember what they're called, but they are small chocolate eggs have a smooth outer surface unlike any other candy I've ever tried!) Oh yeah, malted robins' eggs, too. I also will usually have peeps once or twice around this time of year -- they're not my favourite though.

Really, I dig both Easter and Valentines day -- lots of sweets at the store ;)

Same here. I think holidays are a great excuse to party and eat good stuff. :D

I plan to blow out eggs (even if I blow out my eardrums in the process) and paint or decorate them. It's not uncommon to see trees in the lawn decorated with eggs. Orginally much of the area had German/Pennsyliva Dutch folks there and that's where this custom comes from.

I never could get that to work. I remember doing it in a school art class, and I had a huge hole in my egg at the bottom as I couldn't make it work.

I might be able to paint wooden eggs if I could find some. That would be a keepable remembrance for my grandchildren. :)

Oh, but according to Wal-Mart, there IS Kosher Ham...!

I'm going to my mom and sister's house...I don't know what they are cooking, but I suspect Lori and I will make a flourless chocolate torte since Imma is known for her Cantor/singing skills...not baking.

I gotta tell my friend this , she was my neighbor growing up! Did the pig get
circumcision !

When I was growing up, Easter was a big thing back then...new dress, hat, gloves, purse, shoes...the whole shebang!...It was a must, going to Church and an Easter Egg Hunt afterwards, dinner on the grounds.
But nowadays...seems as if things have changed so much. My boys are teenagers...we went to Kmart today, so many Easter Baskets on sale...along with a Hula-Hoop, (which I was tempted to buy)..and of course, the chocolate bunnies and all the candy...but we don't eat candy anymore, very, very seldom.
I used to have an Easter egg hunt in the house if it rained on Easter when the boys were younger....and several times, there was always one egg that we could not find until it rotted and the smell was awful!

And remembering the song the boys used to sing...."Here comes Peter Cottontail....hopping on down the bunny trail....Hippty-Hoppity...Easter is on it's way".
Happy Easter.

I might buy my DD an Easter dress for church and myself some new jeans and a nice shirt. I've been dying to find a pink tie, but no such luck.

We just got rid of hubby's pink tie. He hated it and refused to wear it. It was a silk tie that came from the ex-hubby of the lady that got us together.

Dammit! If we had known earlier we might have made a deal!
