Good for her!

"I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you," she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama's "hard-left agenda."

But Thomas is no ordinary activist.

She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.

Just goes to show...extremism knows no boundaries.

Rather a sexist remark? The spouse should be free to do regardless of the husband or wife's line of work.

well it's what Mrs. Thomas believes in. "a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said."

Yes, but so what?

Conservative core principles are about lower taxes, limited government, fiscal responsibility in govt, capitalism, regulation of business and investing, a strong national defense, and individual financial responsibility and accountability. Please, get that one straight.

edited to add: Freedom also.

And liberal principles are?

let's see Virginia Thomas's background........ She participated in Lifespring organization which holds a view very similar to Scientology.... argued against Family and Medical Leave Act... argued against equal pay for men & women in workforce...

even more disturbing... from OP's article -
Her biography notes that Thomas is a fan of Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, author of "Men in Black: How the Supreme Court is Destroying America."

"She is intrigued by Glenn Beck and listening carefully," the bio says.

and her husband is Supreme Court of United States? I'm disturbed about a serious conflict of interest when it comes to federal ruling.....

And liberal principles are?

Who said liberal had principles?

Screw the rich, Nanny state, spend now pay later, socialism, domineering business and investing, more talk less action and individual financial irresponsibility and lack of accountability.

Basically the opposite. Of course it's your party....you might want to try to define them yourself

You tell me.

correct me if I'm wrong but the liberal principles in your definition are "more taxes, bigger govt, bigger spending, bigger deficit, no fiscal responsibility, no accountability, less freedom, more statism, an un-Constitutional govt, and ensuring that our national defense is low on the list" yes?

Conflict of issue is the valid point.

I like what TXgolfer said.

You are mistaken.

It was liberals that got rid of monarchy, dictatorship, and absolutists.

It was liberals that created free markets economy hence making their countries extremely wealthy.

It was liberals that created civil rights for all.

It was liberals that created the separation of church and state concept.

It was liberals that give you religious freedom.

It was liberals that created Social Security to help the unfortunate and the old.

It was liberals that created equal rights for women.

It was liberals who demand that lives be saved by regulating pollution and behavior.

In fact, all great countries were founded on liberal democratic concepts while backward countries were founded on theocracy or dictatorship.

So please don't tell me that liberals are one of those non-sense labels.

In fact, "lower taxes, limited government, fiscal responsibility in govt, capitalism, regulation of business and investing, a strong national defense, and individual financial responsibility and accountability" is classical liberal. Adam Smith was a liberal.

Hmm, liberals of today is exactly what TXgolfer just said.

.

By "liberal," do you means classic liberalism (nowadays known as libertarians) or social liberalism?
