Francis Ramirez of Wichita, a senior at Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, has won the graphic media division of a national contest for hearing-impaired students.
Rebecca Price of Rose Hill, a sophomore at the Olathe school, won honorable mention in the same division of the contest, sponsored by the Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y.
Ramirez receives $250 and a trip for two to Rochester in late March to attend the 2009 Deaf Rochester Film Festival.
Her winning entry, "Holding a Meteor," and Price's entry can be viewed by going to RIT - Digital Arts, Film, and Animation Competition for Deaf and Hard-of-Heading Students.
