I had a baby stroller in Mundelein(60060), but I was willing to bring it to Evanston(60202) for any interested buyers.

Well, that person contacted me last Friday with desire to come and buy stroller in Evanston. I told them I would bring it to Evanston on Monday or Tuesday. I ended up selling it to someone else who came to Mundelein on Saturday. I then told the person that the stroller was sold.

That person was livid!! They told me that they were in Mundelein on Saturday!! Why did they not tell me that information?? If I knew then I would have sold it to them on Saturday.

They thought you were going to hold onto it until Monday, and then you sold it to someone else!

hmmmmmm dereck do ya think they may had a point

Yeah, but why did they not pick it up in Mundelein when they were in area on Saturday? It would have been easier for me to sell it in Mundelein than to bring it to Evanston. So therefore, I sold it to person that came to Mundelein and got it.

That's not the point. The main thing is they asked you to bring it to Evanston for Monday and you agreed. Also, being somewhere doesn't mean they were in a position to collect it... I might ride my motorcycle somewhere instead of my car, how would I get a stroller home?

Just like a store, first come, first served. If they wanted it badly, they should have gone to get it Saturday.

Maybe make it clear to people that you will come to their location if you still have it when they want you to bring it.

That is why I never, ever offer to deliver anything unless it is worth a lot of money. Advertise your item, and let them come to you.

I've had people get pissed off at me because I refuse to deliver FREE items to them since they don't have any means of transportation.

Well, it's true "first come first served" but not if the seller agrees to meet the buyer
on a certain day - this becomes a verbal contract and thus an obligation to the buyer to hold the stuff.

What to do in cases like that, you can declare "sorry, no hold policy" so no promises
the stuff will be held until then. then ask to call before coming to see if there is still worth coming over.
