which way to teach cats ASL?

I was thinking that if I started teaching cats "on", "off", and then go to "before" and "after". Then "below" and "above".

Don't do "not yet" or "late". That is in a very different place than those above. Cats would be confused and possibly bite.

Think location, location. Therefore, maybe teach sign "pet", but not "my" or "yours". Try to establish location first.
 
I have my Deaf cat. He learned several ASL signs and home-made signs. It took time for him to learn these signs and surely the patience is paying off.
 
You can do the same thing with cat as you do with the dogs, like your rottie Zeus.

For example, if you see cat sits on countertop, you want the cat "off", you sign "off' and gentle push cat off countertop.

Do that again and again until cat finally understood "off" so you don't have to gentle push the cat off the countertop or elsewhere.

Same with "on", you sign "on" to "couch", and gentle encourage cat, maybe pick up the cat and put it on couch, and sign "on". Do that again and again, until it finally understood you want him/her to get on whatever. :D
 
Has anyone developed a system of "fingerspelling" for cats ferrets/dogs yet?

Just checked with Prof SKY, my cat-just a loud meow
 
Any people do it best teach basic learn it cat and dogs , I have few my gf deaf cats from Ontario, :)
