Hello All,
it's been quite a while since I've been on here. Allow me to describe my type of hearing loss and get some feedback from you all out there with a similar loss.

I have what's called a "cookie bite" loss, so a rare, but not uncommon loss. I currently have digital aids, but no matter what type of environment I am in, I still have difficulties hearing in noisy environments or even with some background noise. I'm sure lots of people have the same issue. I've recently discovered the Siemens Aquaris and love the technology it has and am wondering if those would be good for my type of hearing loss or just too much "bells and whistles" (more extra features than I truly need).

My audiogram:
250 Hz: 20Rt, 30Lt
500 Hz: 25Rt, 30Lt
1000 Hz: 45Rt, 65Lt
2000 Hz: 60Rt, 60Lt
3000 Hz: 50Rt, 55Lt
4000 Hz: 45Rt, 45Lt
6000 Hz: 25Rt, 30Lt
8000 Hz: 20Rt, 25Lt

So, as you see it dips right in the middle, where the "language banana" appears, which is my area of concern in regards to communicating with others.

To be honest, I feel that sometimes I just don't need them. Matter of fact, I used my last hearing aid battery a few months ago, therefore haven't worn them that long and just bought more batteries the other day (but now have to go through that adjustment stage again.... UGH).

Any feedback from you all?

Thank you so much!

Does anyone else have a similar hearing loss? If so, what type of aids do you use?

Thank you.

Really, I think, only an audi can give you advice on the proper HA for your type of loss.

Hello, lol. I see Safarigirl already threw my name out there. It's true, I do have a similar hearing loss. It must be noted that cookie bites are notoriously hard to fit. Our hearing is okay in some frequencies, but poor in others, making it hard to find a HA with an appropriate range. You need to find out if the aid you want can accommodate you loss- AND your normal hearing. I had trouble finding aids that were powerful enough for my loss, but yet were able to be set low enough to not blast the tones I hear well in. My number one suggestion at this point, is to NOT go open fit or with the thin tubes, and to be picky. Listen closely when trying, often people with cookie bite losses can hear the high pitched noise that hearing aids produce when they operate at high decibels, that others cannot hear.

Oh yeah, and I have the Phonak MicroP's in purple. :D

Really the only way to find out is to call around hearing aid centers near you and ask if they have a free hearing test/trial period offer.

Everyone hears things different, so my advice is to try all you can before making a decision.

I tried Starkey and I love their designs and I heard pretty clearly from the aids (my hearing has decreased recently, so my hearing isn't as clear as it was but I still get through so much with these)

Just look up on google hearing aid centers near you and ask about different brands out there for you to try :)

Why did you just take two of other people's posts and mash them together? You seem to repost other people's posts alot.
