BUDAPEST, Hungary -- How the Yellow Jersey got so yellow.

Eight cyclists participating in the Tour de Hongrie each were fined $40 on Thursday for urinating in public during the race, officials said.

"If this had happened by a farm field, race judges probably would have ignored it," said race spokesman Roland Gombkoto. "But since it happened right in front of spectators, it could damage the popularity of the race and the sport."

The incident took place Wednesday in the town of Nagykonyi, about 100 miles southwest of the capital, Budapest, during the second stage of the seven-day race covering 530 miles.

Gombkoto said the three Hungarian and five foreign cyclists stopped but did not get off their bicycles while relieving themselves during the 103-mile second stage between Balatonfoldvar and Pecs.

Australian Phil Thuaux won the stage in 3 hours, 59 minutes, 9 seconds, and retained the yellow jersey traditionally worn by the race leader.

oh gawd LOL i uddy thier need to go no matter what! I remmied a outfeilder hollering at me to look at her she said she had to go pee im like oh jeez So ran and told my coach abt it she said that she was stuck but to hang on she ll make the switch a batter was already up so She had to wait til after this batter, well lo and behold the hit was made it was a fly ball and ended up going TO HER! she was like oh jeez crossed her legs when she caught the ball to prevent herself from peeing on herself, Well it was the 3rd out and we asked the ump to hold the game for 10 mins so she can make a bathroom run cuz she was squirming real bad! poor thing ( Purple U know her she was yr roomie in northern Ca!)
