Wanted know why I avoided Dodge at all cost? I done witness my friend that had Dodge truck, replaced transmission THREE, oh my god three times!, and I had nightmare with GM trucks and it scares shit out of me having another GM vehicle. This leaves me with Ford. In the last two year that I owned Ford F-250, so far it had no issues.

I was very impressed with Nissan Frontier, one tough mofo when it comes to off roading. However I am not that comfortable driving it. It has to do with my personal preference and comfortable.

Not just Dodge. It's old news. I seen GM's newer Equinox, Cruze, Silverado with duramax. They have a lot problem and only under 10k milesage. Sad? So I don't like USA's design for newer anymore. I still like 70's as American muscle.

The cause of loose intake valve seats in the combustion chambers, is expanded aluminum cylinder heads due to overheating. I have a feeling that there is some flawed aluminum process in the foundry to inject the moldings (raw cylinder heads) prior to machining process.
The surfaces on the cylinder heads looks like shot peen or white foam coffee cup (I forget the name of the foam), not real casting surfaces. I don't like it. Hondas or other cars have similar things.

Yes, I know what you mean about Shot peen or white foam coffee. It's common on foundry using sand. I've melted aluminum in crucible and poured into Sand Die. Metal look like shot peen and I had to polish it with wirebrush wheel on side of grinder.

Regarding coolants, I've checked and it remains the same. It didn't have any problems as for now. My durango have MIL light lit on for 3 years. I checked it with OBDII. It's EGR needing replaced. I am always busy and secondly, Dodge Durango's EGR is in bad spot (It's far back of engine over intake area, wiper motor cover and hoses in the way). I'll have to crawl on top of engine and work on it like a vet who does surgery by feeling it, no looking. I excelled on that but engine and weather must be cool enough for me to work on it. Kansas State do not have Emission inspection at all. That's why I didn't bother with MIL light as long as engine runs fine. It's fairly commonplace in KS anyway. I can see several driver driving with MIL light on dash while in traffic.

I'll keep eye on both vehicle for coolant trouble.

What's happen about 70's? I just like 70's body with engine mod like fuel injection over crap carburetor and upgrade brake rotor over crap drum and it's perfect for southwest due avoid from the rust.
 
Yeah, I missed days of 70's. I think fuel injectors and computer were first introduced in 1980 or 81. There were no injectors or computer during 70's. First EPA forced catalytic converter in late 70's, and started phasing out leaded gas. Im saying is that yeah, these early 70's cars were great, chevy trucks were built to last forever, not anymore.

I used to own 1967 Chevrolet C10 pickup truck. It had 283hp smallblock engine and 3 speed manual transmission with column shifter. I loved this truck so much. I accidentally snapped clutch and damaged plastic timing gear teeth inside engine. I had to swap V8 engine to modified 1977 Camaro engine, 305 block with 350 head (my friend modded the engine for his camaro and he said that it give lot of torque with bigger head, his brother races car on I-70 speedway which was the dirt racetrack in Missouri). After I swapped engine, I noticed big difference on performance, It was lot better. When I was driving on long uphill grade on K-7 highway, I didn't have to press gas pedal to give more power to engine. It stayed 55mph steady.

Later I sold my truck because I don't have time to change out lot of brushings under my truck. It was squeaky and rattling alot each time I turns.

Yeah, Crappy tipped plastic camshaft sprockets, last about 30K miles or more. If you maintenance oil changes and tune ups well then stay longer.
What cause the tipped plastic camshaft sprocket (timing gear) failed, is fuel diluted in crankcase (too much gas in motor oil) due to flooded or over-richer mixtures in the carburetors that can destroy the piston rings, cylinder walls even cam lobes/lifters or bearings. Plastic timing gear is design to reduce mechanical noise.
I like a 67 Chevy truck with very stone dashboard. Easy to see the odometer. the steering wheel is big as semi-truck, tired my arms in 5 minutes.
I know the GM vehicles are suffering with bad bushings in the upper arm controls as always where the bushings got heat from exhaust manifolds and melted rubber bushings. You know that the upper arm control bushings for my 1995 Chevy Astro van, are inherited from 1960's. Same bushings for all GM vehicles except heavy duty trucks.
 
Yeah, you could use magnets to stick reminder notes on dashboard. Can't do that anymore.

We do have smog warning during summer and being asked not to top off gas in tank. Also don't mow lawn during day, just evenings.

KS state have great hunting spots so Free lands = Deer hunting. We had deer overpopulation in my area at Shawnee Mission Park (park/lake). City had to hire professional Archer to thin out herd of deers due to frequent Deer/Car accidents. City even allow hunting in neighborhood with special permits but rules do apply to protects your neighbor (It's nice to hunt deers in your backyard if deer jump over your fence to your yard by luck so you can have year worth of deer meat after you kill it with compound bow). You don't want to miss a shot and kill your next door. That's only if deer overpopulation in city. Because western area of City of Shawnee was rural and housing booms overtakes deer's boundary.

We even have Mountain Lion or Cougars lurking in Kansas City, MO as well. Wake up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee then go to patio door. Say hi to big kitty :eek2: Two people was mauled by Mountain Lion at the park while jogging at the park.
