Anytime you see a 3.7L V6 or 4.7L V8 motor in any Chrysler/Jeep. Do not buy...unless they are recently fresh engine work. The 3.7L and 4.7L engines are the famous for dropping intake valve seats even the intake valves are fine but lost the valve seats and can destroy the pistons and heads. I've been diagnosing misfire and overheating issues on the 3.7L engines, called out for valve jobs (for overheated problem), and replace used/rebuilt engines, the customers declined the repairs. One customer sold her 2003 Jeep Liberty to a towing driver. I miss the opportunity to buy it, no one tell me. Damn it.
Because they made in USA? How embarrassing.
EEEEKK!!! I have em both. 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited w/ 3.7 L engine and 2005 Dodge Durango 4.7 L engine. Thanks for the tip! What should I know when valve seat need needed replaced? My durango have 108K miles and Jeep 96K miles. How did valve seat get dropped? How do I prevent this problem from happening since both engines never had problems.
