I have a samsung sata2 250 gb hdd.. so what about yours ?

what's the point of this thread?
i have several hard drive brands.
pretty pointless, imo.

I have a load of harddrives junk for PC & Laptop. Nevertheless, I prefer Western Digital harddrives over any brand HDD. ;)

mine Gateway Laptop MX3210 but im not sure i have hard drive or not

Seagate 250 GB 7200 rpm hdd with Serial ATA interface.

Western Digital (WDC WD2500AAJS) from black/alu Intel iMac.

Fujitsu from MacBook Pro.

I was just checked on system profiler.

I like Western Digital hdd and also I have bunch of Seagate hdd too. Both are pretty good hdd. I have one 40GB 7200rpm WD Special Caviair 8mb cache and other is 40GB 7200 Seagate Barracuda hdd. Even though both are "outdated" but great for Linux!! I don't use much hdd space. I average 10 to 15 GB hdd space tho.

it's somewhere important that you should have external HDD, it save your life. :)

Including with USB, eSATA or Firewire? If eSATA then MacBook Pro don't have eSATA port but can be use on express card 34, only problem is eSATA don't support powered voltage and require to have plugged at all time when external HDD is in use, not accessible for mobile, unlike USB or firewire based portable HDD without require to plug it.

USB 2.0 would be ok but really bad for games that require greater space of HDD like 12GB from Crysis, it will too long to load, not faster as SATA does and Firewire would be very good if it's 800 but still slower than IDE (ATA).

I have firewire external HDD which don't need required with power adapter and it's amazon fastest than USB 1.1. Unfortunately, it hold much as 10GB. I do have external HDD USB 2.0 that hold 120GB. It's sweet to use as DVR to storage :)

Yup, it's good idea to have one. Another option is to have same size hdd (or bigger if you wish) and use Acronis EZ Migrate (free from Seagate) and clone the drive to 2nd drive. You may need to clone it once a month till first Hdd crash then you'll have backup in no time. It'll be a lifesaver too. Or don't store in too many pix, music, or data in hdd. Just back it up to CD or DVD using CD/DVD RW drive. Norton Ghost would be good option too. There are 8Gb Thumbdrive (flashdrive) for $29.99 at Microcenter!! Would be very useful too. (I'm a thumbdrive addict LOL)

Pretty soon in near future: Flash hdd!!!

yes, in future there would be more plenty in nano hdd, it would give no trouble when you drop nano hdd on hard surface or in water. and use power by use thry USB. It's almost flawless and still able read anything.

Yup. It would be commonplace for all PC and Laptops in future, saving lot power and less likely crash. DVD/CD would be obsolete. Rental movies will be in flash drives so no worry about scratched DVD!!
