Sounds like a possible deafness on genetic basis since there's family history. As for your 4th child, it could be 50/50......if you wanna do the Punnett Square to check that.

Why does this matter to you? Either it is or it isn't.

The chance is 50/50 if deafness runs in your family. So either deal with it and be proud or don't have any more children if deaf is your biggest fear.

If it is a genetic type of hearing loss, the child would need to inherit the recessive gene from both parents. There is a 50% chance the child would get one gene (from one parent) and would be a carrier, 25% chance that they would get no gene at all, and a 25% chance of getting both genes and being born deaf.

I was born deaf and so was my brother due to genes. Iam so glad that I have a deaf brother. :)

I know few friends of mine. for example, one person who was born deaf and all alone in her family that she has 2 siblings and the other spouse was born deaf and all alone in his family and has 2 or 4 siblings. But they are together who have deaf two kids or three kids. like it's their first deaf generation.
