The gist is that a guy was beaten senseless and no townspeople saw anything, trucks blocked vehicles with Kansas plates in parking lots, people were brought in for hours of questioning about "crimes they might have possibly been involved in" only to be released after the services, etc. etc. Hooliganism meets hooliganism. :roll:

But no dead soldiers were disrespected.
 
So in other words it was made up about someone being beaten, and the police just called in the Westboro folks for questioning to keep them out of the way until services were over?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

No, no, one of the Westboro people got beaten and then they got detained for it, not the Brandon folk. Hah, if they weren't breaking any laws here, they were sure tweaking them. ;)

From my best understanding, there was a beating of a Westboro folk. The citizens of the community just wouldn't slip about it.

And the questioning - The police just questioned them to keep them off the streets.

Nice video tribute at the end from the police officer's cruiser, of the people standing along the road to honor the Marine who was killed. Wish we could have more tributes like that for the guys who are coming home alive.

Here in SC the Patriot Guard Riders give send offs and returns for any of the service deployments. Usually staging at the airport or base. We have Charleston Joint AFB, Shaw AFB, McEntire ANG base, Beaufort MCAS. Many of the commands leave or return via the civilian airports. You can usually tell the PGR by our yellow flags or yellow banners across our windshields.

We also give send offs and return greetings to the WWII honor flights to DC.

If you read the comments in the link - you find that this never actually happened, however it does make you wish it really would happen to the Westboro Idiots.

Would have been better had they not actually physically beat the crap out of one of them, but I don't have much of a problem with the other tactics, other than mild concern that they could be abused to stop legitimate protests as well.

That's why the Patriot Guard Riders have a non-confrontational policy. We're not even allowed to speak to or make eye contact with protesters.

Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.

The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

Westboro Baptist is really more of an asylum than a church

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned ass kicking.

That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.

Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

Update: We thought we should include the video that accompanied the original story. It’s the view from a trooper’s dash cam recording the escort of Marine Staff Sgt Jason Rogers as hundreds or even thousands of onlookers gathered alongside the roadway to pay their respects.

It's not quite clear that it really happened, the whole story. Is there any other verification of this event?

I mean, obviously the funeral happened, but all the rest of the stuff with Westboro "church," is it confirmed that all that happened?
