I got a new Siemens digital hearing aid today - my Oticon hearing aid was ... 20 years old! At least it would have been on June 11, 2006 - it still works fine with a little fade-out here and there.
Im still getting used to it - sounds are pretty clear and sharp...URGH.
However, this is not what I wanted to talk about - I found out at the last time I bought a hearing aid (in 1986), there were... 20, count them, 20 companies that made hearing aids. Now, in 2006, 20 years later...only six remain. Oticon and Siemens are the two biggest - with three companies under them making hearing aids.
Makes you wonder, huh? Technology marches on, and companies gets swallowed up by other companies.
