I got a new Siemens digital hearing aid today - my Oticon hearing aid was ... 20 years old! At least it would have been on June 11, 2006 - it still works fine with a little fade-out here and there.

Im still getting used to it - sounds are pretty clear and sharp...URGH.

However, this is not what I wanted to talk about - I found out at the last time I bought a hearing aid (in 1986), there were... 20, count them, 20 companies that made hearing aids. Now, in 2006, 20 years later...only six remain. Oticon and Siemens are the two biggest - with three companies under them making hearing aids.

Makes you wonder, huh? Technology marches on, and companies gets swallowed up by other companies.

I always used Untiorn, but not anymore. I am shocking things are change for hearing aids completion. right now I using StarKey.

World are crazy right now.

i used to wear Bernafon hearing aids but they no longer make them. so cant fix my hearing aids.. but i got another hearing aid which is made by Rexton. It is ok.. but would love to get a digital hearing aid and see if it does work for me instead of cochlear impants? hmm?

U could try - if you're like me - a good candidate for a CI but not willing to lose what residual hearing you have left, a digital may be the way to go.

Yeah i saw my old speech teacher at school last week and she told me that from what she remember from my hearing test that i may not be good candiate for the ci .. she did said that if the hearing had declined then by any means why not go ahead and get ci.. she asked me if my hearing had gotten worse or stay the same? i told her about the same.. can hear everything .. she said then why want CI? only at last resort to when i cant hear even when hearing aid cant? she said try digital hearing aid first and see how it goes.. she believe it will be better for me.. so am gonna look in this and see if digital hearing aid will work for me? who knowS! :)
