The 2009 Summer Deaflympic Games are currently underway in Taipei, Taiwan. The Deaflympics are held every four years, and are the longest running multi-sport event excluding the Olympics themselves. The 2009 Taipei Deaflympics will include competition by nearly 5,000 deaf athletes from 80 countries in 20 sports, including badminton, basketball, cycling, orienteering, soccer, swimming, tennis and track & field.
