Webcam Software calling a VP number?

Hello:

There is software for HOVRS and Sorenson for talking to a VP. With this software, you have to know the IP address of who you are calling.

Question: Is there a way to find the IP address of a VP100/200 from only knowing the Phone Number? Any kind of directory that shows IP of a Phone Number?

and you won't find ip address for the phone number. you will have to ask them to give you the ip address before you call them.

There's no way to do what you wanted. you have to ask for it.

IP address directory is not quite possible. Reason? 95% of these IP address is based on DHCP. What does that means? DHCP in other word Dynamic (changeable) Hosting Configuration Protocol, and that means that it is designed to change IP address once a while, and it is impossible to keep update with this. That is why there is no such thing!

There is a way but everyone would need to get thier own domain name then register a service like No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP or DynIP - Dynamic DNS Service and any time thier ip changes that it will update the domain name to the new ip address.

This is done by installing a software on a computer or router that keep in contact with the service to record what is your current ip on thier DNS server and then folks with Video Phone can enter the domain address to make a call so no need to find out what is current ip.

It not easy to set up but it can be done and I believe VP accept domain name as a phone number unless I am wrong but if VP cannot accept domain name then you can always install a website that folks can visit to find out what is your current ip address.
