Hi All

I wanted Closed Caption Tweak program (extra options more) add-on/plug-ins for MCE2005 (Media center Edition 2005)

I have MCE2005 but only CC1, CC2, Mute, On, and Off, no extra
background is no soild and grey, I need black Soild background?

I haven't seen such a thing, though you can try wading through the vast landscape that is AVS Forums.

I think this is the forum for HTPCs and stuff like that.

Do you want this for a TV tuner card or for DVD movies? I'm pretty sure it is program-dependent, the closed captioning, I mean. You might be able to tweak around with Graphedit, but there is a sort of steep learning curve if you're really new to playing around with filters, codecs, and stuff like that.

Yes, I many HTPC Forums at www.thegreenbuttom.com and www.avsforum.com but they don't care, they not interest closed caption. but better deaf know about caption than hearing

I know what you mean. There is not much of a concern for it, and even the best program for the ATI HDTV card (WatchHDTV) does not support captioning because captioning "isn't high on his list of priorities." It's a hobby with him and he IS doing it for free, so there is not much one can say about it.

Well, you can try and play around with Graphedit. I did, but I couldn't get it to render ATSC captions, but the analog captions look like they might be easy to fool with. I don't have an antenna or cable attached to my analog plug in my computer so I don't know exactly how to tweak it.

There is a thread here, at Rage3D that explains some about Graphedit, and there are a bunch of layouts and examples to use. There are several setups with closed captioning.

Have you tried that?

I use Regedit.exe under MCE2005, I saw Caption mode, size, color, i try change FFFFFFFF to 00000010 etc.. they are nohting but I saw CaptionMode = 0, I turn on, saw Captionmode = 1 near color, size are nothing, I will find it

Good to see fellow deaf HTPC users here. I also have a MCE 2005 set-up and am happy with the basic captioning function. You might want to contact this guy amirm (?) on Avsforum.com as he is a Microsoft guy who addresses questions about the MCE 2005. A PM to amirm might get you the info you are seeking.

Don't buy it, it is big problem

1) ANALOG's CC (no function)), CC1, CC2, Mute only but no solid, it is very smooth, you can buy it

2) Digital (DTV & HDTV) only OTA, have more options already you saw messsage. it is very problem, not smooth, slow move up only 1 1/2 and 2 1/2,I want full 2 or 3 line

3) DVR-MS copy to DVD, MEPG, WMV etc.. won't work CC

you look more at Captioning & Sign Language Interpreter

RHR,

Thanks for telling me.. I'm not looking for burning to DVD.. Just wanted to have recorder.. whenever I get home from work or whatever and play from recorded.. And deleted it.. That's all I needed.. Anyway, I did buy ATI HDTV Wonder and been messing around for 2 days.. And I have to say overall is OK.. But I have few details about ATI HDTV Wonder with 3rd Party software (showing in blue...)

ATI Multimedia Center -
Pros:
Supported CC!
Able to watch with CC from recorded.

Cons:
No TV Guide.
Manual Schedule Recorder Time.
Only Pause.. Can't have forward from LiveTV.

SageTV and BeyondTV -
Pros:
TV Guide.
LiveTV playback.

Cons:
No CC Supported except PVR-250 or PVR-350 (Hauppauge) will work and BeyondTV isn't supported CC yet also..

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 -
Pros:
CC Supported
Able to watch with CC from recorded.
TV Guide (Ugly!).

Cons:
Must use MUTE to enable CC (Can't have that!)
Don't like the way CC looks such as showing: 567 lines instead of 789 lines.

That is all for now.. I can't think of anything else.. About to return the ATI HDTV Wonder unfortunately since there's NOTHING what I wanted for that kind of PVR.. :( So, whenever I have something in mind, I'll post for sure.. Sounds like there's only way to have TiVo??? :squint: But it sucks for not having own HTPC.. :mad2:

Kurt

thank you for let me know, but I am not interest about SagaTV, Beyond, I interest MCE2005 becuase MCE2005 can more internet, RSS, TV, Games, more add-in, plug-ins more power on TV SagaTV, Beyond don't have add

DVR-MS can copy into Burn Data only yes work CC both Analog and Digital becuase DVR-MS is bulti-in CC, who aake programmer don't know about CC, they are hearing, they don't interest CC, sigh
maybe Vista will full CC, i am not sure see see becuase limit hardware for MCE2005

I understand about alot of features with MCE2005.. But the question is.. how do you feel about CC? Does it looks funny to you, right? But still, you know I don't believe about CC which you gotta have to MUTE the MCE2005 that will show CC but what about my kids, they are hearings.. Think it's fair for not having sounds? Also, it's not that "eye-candy" on TV Guide made by MCE2005.. But I wonder is it possible to have TV Guide custom-made that comes from plug-in or add-in instead of using plain boring TV Guide by MCE2005?? Just wondering.. Hrmm..?

I understand.. What I'm trying to say is I don't like the way it looks on CC came from MCE2005 cuz it almost looks in center instead of bottom (standard CC).. Also, you said TV not monitor, of course, must use CC from MCE when using TV.. Otherwise, there'll be no CC.. And also, *PRESS MUTE* button from remote control to enable CC is dumbass!! All they needed is move CC lines from 567 to 789 and add feature for CC icon or whatever without require to press stupid MUTE!

Anyway, I wanted to make sure about my video card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro).. I noticed anything play from my DVD movie or PVR output to TV, never showing in CC but there's only way to enable CC from DVD player software ie: PowerDVD or MCE2005.. I wonder anyone have Video Card output to TV without need to enable CC from software?

Cheers!

Yeah, I already send to The Green Forums and AVS Forums, I want MCE2005 don't need CC program, I want out-TV and TV will work CC in bulti-in TV, because MCE2005 and other TV Tuner are filter

MCE 2005 with CC

Hello,

You can use CC without muting. Here's the procedure:

In MCE2005, go to Settings -> TV -> Audio -> Caption Display (set to: "On")

Cheers
