VRS Iphone No Number

Hello! new to forum! posting here because I hope someone here could help me with VRS.

I just purchased an Iphone 4 today and wanted to call my mom using Purple VRS. I was not aware I needed a VRS Phone number to use VRS with the Iphone.

I am new to the VRS technology and am used to using TTY and Cali RS.

Basically I need to know if its possible to get a VRS phone number if you are not hard of hearing or deaf?

the big purchase point for me was to be able to use VRS to contact family. My mother doesnt have an Iphone but uses VRS.

any help or information is appreciated. Thanks

You can purchase a Z4 and a Monthly Consumer Service Plan through the ZStore:

As a hearing customer, you will be given a number so that you can login and call your family. If your family also happens to have ZVRS products, they can call you using this number.

As you are not deaf, your number cannot be added to the Neustar iTRS database, which means any non-Z phones will be unable to call you by phone number.

However, you will be given a ZConnect IP address which you can have non-Z phones call to reach you.

As Sorenson's VP200 returns its call to the IP address that called it, any return calls from VP200s will work for you. Other non-Z phones will only be able to reach you by implicitly calling your ZConnect IP address.

Alternatively, if you are technically savvy, you can use an H.323 videophone client like Xmeeting using a public IP address on your home router's DMZ segment, and place calls using DNS+srv to h323:{10digitnumber}@lobby.h323.champvrs.com - beyond that, you're presently on your own.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's probably best just to go the above Z4 customer service plan route: that way you will get ZVRS customer support to help you get it working.

I'm not familiar with any other VRS provider allowing hearing customer access at this time.
