Can a VRS interpreter tell a 3rd party, in general terms without the use of names, locations, or any other identifying information, about a VRS call that was interpreted where the VRS interpreter witnessed a violent crime without violating their Code of Ethics?
Why??? Next Generation 911 is coming. What does this mean? It means that at some point in the future, 911 call takers, dispatchers, will be able to receive video calls. Up to this point in the 911 world, call takers have only had the ability to HEAR what was happening at the other end of the phone...in the future they will be able to SEE IT! This will subject call takers to what video interpreters have been doing for years. It is my understanding that VIs receive some training to deal with those stressors. My purpose for wanting such stories is to develop training for the dispatch centers here in my community. However, if it would be a clear violation of the Code of Ethics, then I will have to approach it from a different way. Thank you to all who may respond.
