VPSwitcher

I agree. I am using a Radio Shack selector and it works just fine and only cost $15.

Right, you get what you pay for , fifteen bucks. I take that its Rat Shack's A/V switcher (#15-1217) for $9.99, cheaper than RickL66, but those A/V switchers have very limited features than what VPSwitcher has (no ethernet jacks). this switcher only switch audio and video. I was told by deafworks that the VPSwitcher has all of the connection ports required for the VP including phone, power, ethernet, and putting those wirings in the behind. It's a perfect gadget item because has just ONE easy button in front to switch between VPs. Two LED lights will tell whichVP is in use. Niceity.

Were you able to find anywhere else that is cheaper than deafworks'
VPSwitcher? If so, post it here. Otherwise, i'm thinking of buying a
VPSwitcher from deafworks very soon. Remember, it is medical tax-write off along with signaler devices, hearing aid batteries, etc. So, almost nothing is lost after buying this item.

This is the #15-1982 (click the link I provided). The routers and switches we get from the VRS provider (usually DLink DI-604 or DSS-5+) have extra ports we can use. What I do is run two ethernet cat5e cables, one to each VP. All I have to do is turn one VP off, turn the other on, and hit the A/B switch. Takes less than 5 seconds to switch between VP-100 and i2eye. I'd rather hit two switches in less than 5 seconds than spending $130+ for something like that. Each to his own. :D

Better suggestion to solution...

150 dollars for this? (Including S&H) I'd rather buy nice 19 inch tv for 120 bux and have VP on each TV set, that way, I can pick whichever VRS interpreter shows up first and use em! Better than this so called junk! Yep, I have Sorenson VP and Dlink VP, too bad most of the time HIPVRS or Sprint VRS usually comes on before Sorenson. So, consider their loss. :-D

Pffttttt.

No way I'm buying that.

Think about this. Just because Sorenson gives away free VP's that aren't compatible with any other VRS system nor with any other VP phone numbers, you have to pay $150 to get some kind of equality with TWO videophones.

HELL NO.

I'll take my one videophone with no restrictions and teach all my friends how to use IP addresses to contact me. CHEAP, SIMPLE, and EFFECTIVE.

Too much $$$ I'll stick with ONE, yes ONE VP-100 and I don't use it much and why do I need 2? lol. I can connect to users that need IP addresses, but that's rare to come by. :) They just need to learn, pfffft.

That's why it's so crucial to have something
to "follow the Standards" much easier
for everyone technically speaking...

No! your wrong! I am talking about getting free Dlink from Sprint, and Hamilton VRS!!! Once either sprint or hamilton VRS sent you free Dlink you CAN use ANY VRS you want!!! I have two Dlink DVC1000 and two Sorenson VP-100 and did I pay a penny? Hell no! I got it for 100% free! Trust me, suppose Sprint or Hamilton ask if you have other VP, just say yes and they will send you another one FREE! No more question asked.

If you don't want it, thats okay,

Why do you need 4 video phones ?

Why do I need 4 VP? I OWN house, and I have family room downstairs and living room upstairs plus den. It is all about convenice PLUS I often call Sorenson and other VRS at same time and go for whichever comes on first. That way, it reduces waiting time for next available terp.
I would understand that it is not needed if one lives in an apartment. Well, I quit living in apartment 4 years ago! Enough is enough!

4 videophones? Gee thats a remarkable contribution to the future of deaf society! You planning on getting one in the bathroom so you can call the plumber if youre constipated?

Richard

Oh there you are! sigh! Did I mention "Bathroom"? Or you are the one who really have VP in bathroom eh?
There is another reason why I have multiple VP, Since Sorenson offer "VRS answering machine" Hence I'd like seperate answering machine for myself and my "Wife". Do you really have problem with that?

By the way, I know couple of guys having 5 videophones in their homes. Its just too much for me, but its their choice.

Richard, can you do us all favor? Keep all the whining to yourself and keep this thread nice and clean.

Too many videophones in whole house.

If you and other person use two videophones in same time, bandwidth will be too loss and not enough speed.

You set up two Sorenson VP-100 videophones in your home. They both have the same phone number, but cannot call each other. Why?

You cannot assign the same phone number to two different Sorenson VP-100 videophones. Sorenson VP-100's do not work like regular telephones around your home where you can have each phone assigned the same number. Each videophone must have its own unique phone number. Change the phone number on one of the Sorenson VP-100s.

I wasnt whining on this thread.

No, can not have two VP with same phone number. It WON'T work! I have done tested and experiment. That is why I have multiple VP just for the fun and experiment. In order to have more than one VP work, you need an additional public IP address from ISP, and you can make up any phone number AS LONG AS no other Vp anywhere in the world have same phone number.
Other advantage of having multiple VP is that I can monitor my kids in other room! It worked! But again, must have different public IP in order to work. Yay! free TV monitor, save me 200 dollars from store!

Yes, your right in most cases can't call anyone on two or more VP at same time. But there is solution... It won't be cheap, but you can order business broadband with higher uploading speed. They DO offer that. For each VP it really need around 220KBPS speed. So order 500 KBPS upload speed, then you won't have problem using two VP at same time. Like I said, I am expriment, not nutty!
