At Deaf Expo my best friend and I saw a woman we sort of know. We met her at starbucks in august or September and we keep running into her all over the place. She was walking by starbucks and noticed us signing and she stopped to talk, she is Deaf. Well at Deaf Expo we were talking and she said, I notice you don’t voice, you mouth some words but mostly you don’t voice. My best friend said, yeah it is difficult for him to voice and sign at the same time, (so true OMG you have no idea! LOL) she said, “I like that most hearing people don’t do that they voice the entire time they sign. Voice off is better”
My question is, why is it better? It is surely better for me, although hearing people get aggravated with me because I sign and they don’t know what I am talking about. Would you prefer hearing people not voice when they sign? I personally would. I wind up listening to their voices and not getting anything from the signs.
