I don't really know if this topic goes here or not, but I figured since it has to do about vital signs. Anyway, I was just watching reruns of "Passions" and on "Theresa's Execution", I noticed something. The device under the heart monitor has 4 different numbers on it. What do each of these numbers on there mean? I take it it's a vital sign monitor, but what exactly does it monitor. Here is the picture.

The numbers on the left always stay on as a constant. The numbers on the right change. Can somebody tell me what these 4 numbers mean? It has been driving me crazy!

Hello? I would really like an explanation! And I'm sorry for the bump, but this topic got bumped way down and I need it to be brought back up. Sorry!

This must be the machine you have in mind...here's the link

"The Dinamap 1846 SX is a non-invasive blood pressure monitor for systolic, diastolic and mean pressure and pulse rate. The 1846 SX NIBP monitor has fully automatic patient selection and monitoring that tracks rapid pressure changes. An audible and visual alarm system is standard. Automatic pressure zeroing reduces the need for constant calibration verification. DRE sells this Dinamap model refurbished."

Hope this helps-- ;)

But how come the MAP and the Pulse Rate stay at a constant even when Theresa's (the one hooked up to the machine and being "executed" by lethal injection) heart stops? Unless they drop over a slow period of time because after the execution, we don't see that ever again.

Next question. 2:54. Watch it up to that point. I just need to ask you something about it. The panel and the machine. Who made it and can anyone get a better picture for me. I need to know what the drug machine is and the panel. If you can't get both, at least tell me one of them. Thanks!

Sorry but it seems none of us have any knowleges. Why don't you write letter to Passions and ask them! Or you can ask your doctor/nurse about it.

i NEED AN ANSWER. Does anybody know the name of the panel?

Better late than never ... though I'm not sure anyone cares any more ...

It's just your standard basic vital sign monitor (there isn't even a O2 sat monitor on it ! ) ... the kind they typically bring around for intermittent monitoring in hospitals etc.

the panel is:

MAP (mean arterial pressure) Systolic
Pulse Diastolic

why doesn't it change 'properly' in the "movies" ... up because they assume you don't know how to read it anyway ... they have some number move maybe ... but they're rarely ever "right"
