I am not sure what the fuss is all about.

We have welfare cards for the poor and we limit what they can buy and cannot buy. We have WIC approved groceries.

So, what is so bad about it? I don't want welfare people to buy "luxury" produce like artichokes, asparagus, etc. Apples, corn, carrots, rice, beans, greens, pork, chicken, beef, dairy, and all that are more than enough to cover for your body needs.

Rice and beans are considered as luxury? That's new to me. Where I grew up, they were considered as "poor people food."

I think netrox left something out of that line....

I'm saying that you shouldnt buy luxury food as artichokes on welfare.

And that rice and beans et all are enough to provide you nutrients you need. They're cheap and nutritious.

Worms are nutritious as well.

I see the capital "A" for apple, beginning a new sentence.

How?

I copied the quote from your source.
``I have called it a Good Life Card so far,'' Chávez said in a brief statement made on the government television channel. ``It's a card for you to purchase what you are going to take and they keep deducting. It's to buy what you need, not to promote communism, but to buy what just what you need.''

It isn't communism and we do have food stamp program in USA.

kinda like tea partiers that think Obama's a commie.

u mean they should buy canned foods? They are worst of all and put more $$$$ in our health system from us taxpayers. WIC are only for babies and toddlers.
