Use Expression Web 4 32-bit on 64-bit computer?

My new class is e-commerce; that is, we design a website for a business.

We use MS Expression Web 4 Ultimate Suite. The software is available free for students from dreamspark.com. The problem is, it's only available in a 34-bit version. My computer is a 64-bit OS. I can go to the main campus and download the 64-bit version onto a USB and bring it home, or wait for the instructor to snail mail a disk to me. The campus is closed today (summer hours), and the mail won't get to me until Monday or Tuesday. My first two assignments using Expression are due tonight (Saturday at 11:59 pm).

So, I was hoping there was some kind work around on this.

Has anyone ever used Expression 32-bit on a 64- bit computer?
 
I don't think there will be an issue for 32-bit software in 64-bit environment. I've had some 32-bit software installed on my 64-bit Windows and it works normally.
 
You should be fine, nearly all 32bit software is backwards compatible with 64.
The primary reason there are two different architecture versions is because the 64-bit versions of software can utilize the computer's hardware more efficiently to process more data, e.g. use larger portion of your system memory (RAM).

32-bit software limits the OS to 4GB RAM or under.
64-bit can utilize over 4GB.

It's good to have 64bit versions of applications when you are running memory intensive programs, or your system-using habits call for more memory.
But you are satisfied with the processing speed of (or the computer hardware is limited to 4GB of memory or less) 32bit architecture, there's no reason to get the 64bit version.

I decided to not tempt things. I found out that the computer lab on the main campus was open today, so I drove down there and downloaded the 64-bit version from their computer. I took it home on my USB drive, copied iso file to my dvd, and installed into my computer. PAH!
 
Well, now you know you can run 32-bit software on 64-bit OS. :)

The 64 bit will run faster for you. We have a buch of older software we run on the newer 64 bit machines at work without problems.
 
Why do you need a 64 bit version? Are you hoping that the floating point arithmetic is more accurate?

If this was Word or an Excel program, I might understand the need, but, after the class ends, it's not likely you will be doing eCommerce on your own.

The 32bit version should work well.

OP was just concerned if 32-bit software will work on 64-bit OS, that's all.
 
I did this once, one thing to consider. Even though 32-bit software will run on 64-bit OS, there is still the possibility of hardware compatibility issues. Best to install 64-bit software in either case.
 
32 bit on 64 bit platform will work but 64 bit on 32 bit platform will not work. Simple as is.
 
I knew that 64-bit software can't be used in 32-bit computer but I never had the reverse situation before.

Anyway, I got the 64-bit software download for my 64-bit computer, so everything is fine. :)
 
Yeah, the bit is pretty like a bar code you all see on every day product, suppose that bar code you see is 32 bits, if there are 64 bits bar code, then its like two bar codes combined in one, making information more available, and vacationguy was right. Anyway, with two bar codes combined together, the scanner can't read it because it will only confuse which is which but will look at first string of bar code and ignore the second string of bar code.
