POLICE have launched new drop-in sessions for people who are hard of hearing, using officers specially trained in signing.
The Police Link Officers for Deaf people (PLOD) will be at the Centre for the Deaf in King's Square for drop-in sessions once a month to make policing services more accessible to the community and help them to easily report crimes or discuss policing issues on a regular basis.
Annabelle Armstrong-Walter, diversity officer at Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Being able to communicate with the public is essential for the police and it is vital that we provide the right channels for all members of our communities in Avon and Somerset to talk to us."
Deaf, deafened, deafblind, or hard of hearing people can also access police services at www.avonandsomerset.police. uk/contact.
