Two Moore Norman Technology Center students named students of the month | NewsOK.com

The Norman Kiwanis Club has recognized a high school student and an adult, both students at Moore Norman Technology Center, as students of the month for November.

Westmoore High School senior Jake Zeneski is a second-year student in the digital video production course at the technology center and is involved with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services program.

Deanna Prufert is finishing her last semester in the evening practical nursing course.

Zeneski is an active member of SkillsUSA and the Business Professionals of America student organization. Last year, he documented his classmates' preparation for a skills contest and posted it to YouTube. He also is a member of Westmoore High School's Hands Club.

Zeneski is working on a short film titled “Can You Hear Me?” for a showing in May at the Moore Norman Technology Center's Red Carpet Film Festival. After graduation, he plans to attend college and major in film at either Rochester Institute of Technology in New York or Gallaudet University in Washington, a university for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Prufert is a former Health Occupations Students of America class president and now serves as an adviser for her class.

Prufert works two jobs and cares for her family while achieving the classroom and clinic hours needed to sit for the LPN exam. She has performed clinical work at Norman Regional Hospital, the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center and in local schools. Her next round of clinicals will be at the St. Anthony Joyful Beginnings delivery center.

She is a winner of the National Cliff Weiss Essay Contest sponsored by the Association of Career and Technology Education. She wrote about the significance of receiving a nursing education through a technology center.
Additionally, she and two classmates submitted a proposal to the House of Delegates of the Oklahoma Nurse Association proposing that a LPN student association be organized and supported under the association.
