Trying to understand Audiograms

My stepmother's mother almost died from following a chiropractor's medical advice instead of an MD.

Luckily my parents found out what was going on and she lived for several more years.

So many have suffered very negative effects when chiropractors step outside what they are trained in...adjusting the spine...and try to treat problems that have never even been shown to respond to chiropractic treatment. Its usefulness has serious limitations. It is unethical and borders on illegal not to inform patients of those limitations.

I have spent hours pouring over the medical literature. I was simply looking for a concise explanation on how to understand the reports because the explanations I have found were far more in depth & complex & I was feeling overwhelmed with all of the information.

Here's the thing. I'm not trying to get it published I'm just writing this for the experience of writing up a case study.

I also can tell by the aggressive and negative manner that you've taken from the start of this conversation that you have a bias against chiropractic. We're not trying to SELL or give false hope to anyone. Anyone who tells you differently has no understanding of what we do. That being said. I'm not spending any more energy on this conversation. Have a great day.

Bye! It is good to find that some can understand the intense focus of this board on the wellbeing of the deaf.

I don't have a bias against chiropractic, per se. I would say the same of any person who attempts to convince a woman that some sort of holistic treatment has made a lasting and significant improvement of her hearing loss. It is fraudulent.

If you want experience writing up a case study, write one up that actually has something to do with chiropractic.

BTW...if medically scientific explanations are overwhelming you, perhaps you should switch careers.

Well............

How do I start here?

First: could you tell through the computer monitor you were talking to a person with a terminal degree in the medical field?

Second: it was never about the "bias against chiropractics" as much as you coming here on an internet forum asking us questions such as how to read an audiogram. I have been reading them since I was 5.

I don't know. May I suggest you to take up another major if pouring over medical literature on how to read an audiogram is overwhelming for you?

Based on your responses in this thread, I am actually surprised this is not a troll thread. Would have been a good one.

Deluding a patient into believing that cracking her spine caused her to see improvement in her hearing loss is not improving her life. It is lying to her to keep her coming back to the chiropractic office.
Actually, back in the 70's AG Bell pushed chiropratic as a cure, and there was a ton of stuff in Volta Voices.
