My Cochlear Nucleus 6 implant was activated on the 4th March this year and during the last few months I have been making great progress and hearing better and better. Two weeks ago I had to have x-rays on my legs and I forgot to remove the processor. Since that time my hearing seems to have deteriorated and I`m thinking I must have damaged the processor by leaving it in while being x-rayed.

Looking on Goggle I get various answers - one person says that she has had lots of x-rays and kept the processor in but I have also read that an x-ray can possibly damage the external speech processor microphone and yet you are allowed to go through the scanner at an airport with the processor on.

I am now struggling to hear what is being said to me and I have tried to rectify this by altering the volume and the sensitivity settings on the Remote Assistant.

I cannot think of any other reason for a change in my hearing other than having been x-rayed.

I was just in with my son, having a few X-rays done and standing next to him...no issues unless they are directly X-raying your head....

Have your audi to boost your power for connection, as I had the same issue and it was the power for the coil to connect with the implant.

* do you hear any warbling or echo like sounds when you talk or cutting in and out?
Mine started doing that as well and it was just the power to connect issue. It is possible to do this a few times as I had to twice already. Your batteries may last 12-16 hours now, but after the power boost look a 8 to 10 hours max.

Thanks for your input. I do have an echo sensation when people are talking or when I talk. I will mention to my audi about your experience and what was done. Thanks again.

welcome. I had it adjusted twice on both sides ( Im Bi-Lateral) and it did the same with both ( first implant was done 12/14 and second implant was done 3/15) same issue with both sides at different times.

At first we thought it was a weak magnet or bad coil but turned out to be the power to connect, as we tried the magnet and coil swap and also tried my backup processors ( backup processors did the same ) so all 4 processors needed adjustment.
