To hear or not?

yep. a CI center will definitely answer your questions, and they should have some demos/dummys of the different CI's (both internal and external devices) so you can get a feel for them.

Well, merry christmas to me... I spent about an hour taking apart, banging on, probing, throwing...and Viola !!!! My hearing aids are working again...lol Hope they hold up for a little while at least.
Going to check the insurance company to see who is in network and set up an appointment.

I had to decide this recently. Last year my hearing was NR/65, and progressed to NR/92 by this summer. I had to decide whether to get a Naida UP, go for a CI, or do nothing. I had appt's with a CI clinic, Audi, etc. In the end I decided that I wanted to get the Naida for now to help me in school with the FM system, and get a CI after I have become fluent in ASL. I was afraid having a CI would deter me from learning ASL completely. After having my Naida for a while, I had decided that I wanted to live Deaf. So I mute my hearing aid unless I'm at school or work. I am happy with this but look forward to knowing ASL enough to switch from having my FM system and Captionist at school, to just having a terp. I don't speak or hear outside of school and work. I go completely silent (except I have to talk to my Dad who doesn't know ASL). The decision will be different for everyone. I still may someday get a CI in order to hear my kids' voices, but I'm undecided.

Good luck in your choice :)

Yes, I was happy that I was able to talk to my parents and kids but happier that I could hear their responses. We all had a great time and I ate all the shrimp....lol
My parents know I love seafood so they just bought food.
