Tn. School for the Deaf donates plush menagerie to fire crews
On Thursday, staff and students from the Tennessee School for the Deaf donated dozens of stuffed animals to the Knoxville Fire Department.
The South Knoxville school chose to donate the plush menagerie to KFD Station #10, which is located on Sevier Avenue and serves the area around TSD’s campus. Fire crews use the toys during a crisis.
“These animals are given to children by firefighters during a crisis to help divert the victim’s attention away from a potentially emotional, scarring incident,” said Capt. D.J. Corcoran with the Knoxville Fire Department.
The presentation was made at the Ward Building on TSD’s campus in the Island Home community.
