I already check other blog that have tips and tricks from Vampy. One thing which is not in there is a network sign in and password screen. I've done that in past but forgotten how to do it. I called Tmobile and lady isnt familiar how to provide info on SK II code. What I did was swapping SIM card from my old SK II to my wife's SK II. (I did a surgery on SK II by swapping the motherboard from my beaten up sk w/ torn keyboard to my wife's nice bodied sk II and want to give my wife a good working sk II cuz hers is locked up due to hardware problem.)

So basically I wanted to do factory reset on SK II and use my wife's sim and log in as her SN and Password to "own up" my old sk II board inside of it's new body LOL.

Advice anyone??

Menu -> Settings -> System Info

Menu + Shift + X

... and select "Erase".

After that, do a full reboot by holding the power button and pressing the reset button (hidden under the flip-screen).

If that doesn't do the trick, then use...

Menu + Shift + R

Tried that and in System Info, The Username is now "Unavailable" and the phone number is changed too as it supposed to. I let it run on it's course after rebooting. few min later, it popped up "Purplecatty now can sign in blah blah" screen popped up. I was thinking it's a IMEI number that Tmobile had store it in database that had my sn in it and sent over to my old sk2 in new shell. I will call Tmobile and tell them to swap my and my wife's sn.
Thanks for advice.

Thanks

Then you should try Menu+Shift+R.

Using X will erase everything, but the name is still there.

Using R will erase everything (including the name).

So, which trick did you do?

Both. (Menu + X and Menu + R) I pulled out the SIM card and did the functions after that. It clears the problem and able to switch over to new sn and logged in.

Thanks for the tip!

I just decided to acquire sk2 from my friend who had spare. She told me her sk2 was funky (volume control just popped up and stay there). She got sk3 from other friend and ditched sk2. So I had hers and fixed the plm by swapping the parts from my old sk2 and it works like new (sk2's speaker and volume buttons attached to ribbon cable solved the plm).

So I did menu x and r then called tmobile to update imei all in less than 10 min then bingo I owned up "new" sk2.

Cuz my old one been locking up over just bump, vib, or pressed key in a wrong way. Now I am able to use sk2 for another year or until I get BB Curve.
Lol

Good idea.

I still have my old Sidekick II. I plan to keep it as backup in case my Sidekick 3 goes bad and I'm waiting for a replacement. :)

I planned to keep old parts for backup in case if one parts on current sk2 fails. Tiny LED lamps would be neat to use for decor lol. Mobo's keyboard have 1/2 non working yellow LED lamps due to accidential damage from drop. I figured that there's crack located somewhere in mobo tho.

I still have SK Color and Motorola T-900 as a "museum" centerpieces. SK Color works fine but it's scroll wheel was non functioning (use D-pad to get around) and some buttons on keyboard are not functioning (keyboard buttons underneath are fixable tho). I remmy I had to type either "f ther" or "m0vi3" with worn keyboard before I got sk2 lol. Sk2 keyboard last heckava longer than sk color!!

I have seen one of my friend still use SK Color (sk1) and have holes on keyboard that he use pen to type sheesh. I told him get a new one !!! He said he can't afford to get new one. So then acquire one from friends who have spare that they don't use anymore lol. Currently he stopped using sk cuz budget issue lol.

Your friend should think of it this way...

Instead of just paying $30 a month for the service, he should also put aside $10 a month.

By the time his Sidekick is old and no good, he will have enough to buy a new one.

Little by little... he will be able to save enough. It's better than suddenly thinking... "$200... now!? But I don't have that kind of money!"

He devoted his money to poker games tho :ugh: . If he wins big, perhap he would buy one lol. I doubt so. He loses most games and wins few (he wins free dinners and maybe $50 but he blows $50 for gas and foods.). I told him get a job! Sheesh lol

I agree that putting money aside for new pager or BB would be worth it. Some Cellular co would offer monthly payments included in billing statement to offset cost of new device. So it's best to call and find out.

Once I get new BB, I would give my sk2 to my daughter to use to keep in touch w/ us. She would be so excited to show off her friend w/ sk at her school.
