im still thinking about it. i dont know if i want to or not. well, i know i want to but....im terrified that i wont make it. im scared that i wont even get accepted into a college, and im terrified that i wont graduate. i dont know what to do.

i would like to go to college because i like learning and i would actually be doing something with my life.

but my fears are strong. and they are holding me back.

i never took the SATs in highschool, which i thought u had to take to get into college. everyone kept making a big deal about it. saying, "AJ u didn't take ur SATs yet? aren't u going to college?" i was too worried about making it out of high school, i wasn't even thinking about college.

i dont know how much college costs, but i know its pretty expensive. i probably have enough money to pay for like one semester or whatever. but i heard that the state, or the government im not sure which, will pay your college intuition if u are a Florida resident and you apply for a florida school.

like i said i dont know what to do. i still have thinking to do.

Aw AJ, it wouldn't hurt to try, you never know what the result would be once you give it a try and see if any college would approve you...I think it's a great and I know you'll fit in well and make some new friends too but don't forget us!...

Go for it AJ!

why dont u try at junior college around ur home... it is a good start to prepare urself ready before enrolling at big university like univ of fl or fsu

GO Gators !
go 'soles' !

i m big fans of both fsu and uf.

yea, same as deafclimber's suggestion. Yea I suggest ya try a community college or a junior college, they're generally easier to be accepted in. They will give you a test to see what your level is and will place you to the right classes to start with then go up higher level. Good luck with that! :D

i was thinking about a community college. its really the only way to go. my GPA was a 2.0....or a 2.5

My GPA was barely 2.0. AJ, college is the best choice you can make for your future. It is hard these days to get a good career without a degree in anything. As I've said, I love college more than anything. Its like what you dreamed of high school being like, and you're not held on a leash. You go at your own pace, you can select the classes you want, and you spend a lot less time in the classroom. I really think a community college is the place for you to go. Community college is a great place to go to for less money, and you can take general eduction classes that most state universities require, that will transfer. Now don't be stupid, AJ!

AJ, I think it is wonderful that you think about going to college! I think going to community college would be a great start for you. You could call college counselor to make an appointment and ask questions, to get started. It will be great for your future to earn college degree and get a good paying job. Go for it! :applause: We ADers will support you emotionally every step of the way...right everyone??? ;)

I agree with everybody about going to community college. I think it is the best way to go there. I suggest you to go there :)

I never took SAT tests or ACT tests while I was in high school, but after I graduated from high school, I took some classes for taking GED tests so I can able to go college (I do have a high school diploma but it is occuptional)...I have been taking the GED tests for almost 2 to 3 years and finally passed it, now I am in community college.

Colleges are fun but a lot of work. You can apply for scholarships, federal assistance, and state loans to pay for colleges. I currently have 2.8685 HS GPA and I know that high schools sucked for others, but I strongly suggest that you start off with community college then transfer to college or university.

everyone pretty much said it.... community college is the best way to find out more about yourself.....

My gurl is in college and is abt to complete her first semster and im VERY proud of her. she has gone a long way and we always try to get together in a short amount of time and is able to communicate with one another as much as we possiblity can. Life's too short to say what if i did go... carpe diem my friend.... * sieze the day* u might find what u want and be able to achive that in every way...

AJ, after you take a reading, math, and writing test at college and they will see what's your level. I am sure you'll get in community college very easy. Since you do not have a job and you might want to apply a financial aid. If you make $13,000 or below and they will help to pay your expense (tution fee, books, and transportation)

 So far AJ everyone has given you their best advice, and now it's time to take that advice and put it into action. Follow your dream AJ, and get your college education. Poor your best foot forward, take that first step, and the rest should be easy!!

Good luck AJ!!!! :D

AJ, If I were you, since you're young.. go for it!!!! BECAUSE I'm 31 years old and I regret not finishing college.. I actually had 2 more years to finish to get my BA.. Its never too late for me to go back but I've got the fear just like you do.. BUT.. you're young.. and you should go to college.. you'll definitely feel good once you finish school! At least try to go for 1 quarter and see how you feel...

Hey ?

Did ya guys know that in Texas just passed the law few years ago that for who deaf people can go to college or university for F R E E  .. but only pay books..

But I hear that Master to up has to pay...

Hey, maybe try a two year residental college. There are some out there..I've done both commutting and living at school. Living at school, is just so much fun b/c a) it's your home. You get to meet people, make friends,b) be able to change clothes easily if the weather changes, c)take naps in your VERY OWN BED! (instead of on a sofa in the library)

Actually in Minnesota we use "Community College" instead of "Junior College". I'm not sure about other states..

My college was named Inver Hills State Junior College but changed to Inver Hills Community College in 1973, but recently, Inver Hills College but I still use term IHCC because many people are used to it. Interesting, eh?

Go for it! I did OK in HS, never took SAT test, so now I am here at Inver Hills CC. Just take assessment test, and they will show you what you need to take classes first.
