The small silent world
I live in
The beautiful language
I sign with my hands
Nothing is heard through our ears
Listen with my heart
A million thoughts cross my mind
Most of them start with “I wonder”
You see… I’m deaf
But I can lip read and talk
I live among the hearing people
In their noisy world
The loudest language
Chatters coming from their mouths
A million things are heard with our ears
Too noisy to listen to my heart
Nothing crosses my mind
I can’t think
So you see
That’s why we are all unique
One lacks what the other has
The other lacks what one has
Nobody’s perfect
Someone’s deaf, blind, crippled, or has illness
But nobody’s unloved by God
Nobody’s unguarded by God’s angels!
