The Magic Kingdom's newest attraction? Booze!

Too many alcoholics in my family....and when the kids see their parents drinking, getting drunk, at times domestic violence ensues...(and a lot of domestics, assaults, murders, etc.) happen when people are drunk....then they (kids) assume it's really "OK"....Not all parents or people are responsible drinkers....

I'm sticking to my guns about alcohol around kids...it should be illegal, even in homes. Nothing wrong with parents going out to parties, around other adults and drinking....as long as they have a good caretaker/babysitter for their kids at home. And they drink responsible. Many don't, so they get a DWI/DUI....and so many kids whose parents have a stocked bar at home, they kids will eventually start drinking...Keeping guns and alcohol locked up, as they both are deadly and addictive....

I recently went to a kid's birthday party and the parents were serving alcohol...I left!...Say what?....It wasn't about the kiddies having fun with cake and ice cream...it was about the adults getting rowdy and drunk and leting the kids run wild and more than likely "sneaking" alcohol....

I hope you called cops on them.

Wow, your experience is very similar to my father and many of his families are alocholics.

For me, just only one in family was alocholic - my grandfather but he died from cancers in 1995.

I used to drink beer moderately when I was 21-23 but not much anymore because of medical reason.

I guess the Magic Kingdom will not be getting my business any longer, or that of my family. Take the booze out of a children's amusement park, it does not belong there.

Good for you, also Magic Kingdom is part of Disney World so you have avoid all part of Disney World.

It isn't concern because it is limited to restaurants only and public drinking is illegal.

Magic Kingdom is no Mardi Gras.

There is alternative: If you want go to Magic Kingdom without serving alcoholic beverages so you can go to Disneyland in California.

Don't forget to buy airplane ticket to LAX. ;)

In Italy we had wine on the table every night. As far as I can remember, no one drank like drunks. The kids were used to seeing our parents drink wine every night with meal.

I agree with this, among young people binge drinking is the real issue. Because kids can only drink at certain times, for a limited period of time, they try to drink more during the time they drink. In other countries, drinking is not a, "new and cool" thing because people are exposed to it more.

On the other hand, if you look at soccer matches in Europe, I wonder if a ban on alcohol would stop stadium riots.

As far as I know, Disney doesn't have drinking problems at Epcot so I'm not sure they would have problem at the Magic Kingdom, from a technical perspective. If you are looking at this issue from a purist perspective, then it is really just comes down to individual taste.

This is why I rarely attend outdoor sporting events anymore. Nothing like packing up the car with your kids for a day of seeing their favorite baseball player, only to have the misfortune of sitting in front of a row of post high school males, with loud, vulgar mouths, and a growing pile of beer cups at their feet.

Sadly, Disney listened to the growing chants of dollars, and decided to tap into this new source of profits, at the expense of people seeking a family-oriented day at the amusement park. Now they can enjoy the pukers behind the rides. :barf:

To me, it is a bad idea.

If Magic Kingdom is part of the Disneyland and should have a theme park to be a fun place where there is no alcohol so the parents and children will have lots of fun. As for restaurants in the Magic Kingdom, I still think the parents should wait until they get home from their vacation.

You have to remember that alcohol no matter what kind are poison to oneself when it comes with health. Drinking alcohol is not going to solve anything just to have fun. It will get worse if the parents are not careful and will get themselves in trouble. I would rather see the theme parks being free of alcohol where the business can help bring good profit to Disneyland.

Disneyland is in California - alcoholic beverages are banned

Disney World is in Florida (Magic Kingdom section) - alcoholic beverages allowed with purchase of dinner meal

My post is about Disney World change their policy and alcoholic beverage isn't dangerous if you drink moderately.

It does not matter if you have two theme parks the same with Disney World or Disneyland. It is suppose to be a family theme park if you are talking about Florida in anyway. I still prefer Magic Kingdom to be free from alcohol.

By the way, I had visited Anaheim Disneyland in California with my ex-husband over 30 years ago. I love the park very much and we don't drink while we had our only child but other couple bring their children with them for the fun. It was a beautiful place to enjoy the entertainment.

No, I have never visit it in Florida. I think Alcohol should be ban.

Alcohol shouldn't be such a big deal, save that for a night out with adults or at home. Does it REALLY need to be around a kid park? If a parent can't hold off on alcohol for one evening out with the kids they got issues.

Disney World in Florida is very different and very bigger. The alcoholic beverages have been served in Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Hollywood Studio and others for many years since Magic Kingdom was only dry until Disney changed to allow for dinner only at restaurant, however Magic Kingdom is more stricter than all other sections. You will see more nothing than see too many children play around.

Disneyland in California is much smaller and they only have Magic Kingdom, with some additional - California Adventure, that it.

I have been in both of them - I prefer Disney World all way.

Looks like the Kingdom has lost its magic...so much for children....:(

I feel the same about parents that can't put down the cell phone/Ipad/BB when they are out with kids at any park or beach. What's up with that? I can see checking for messages, but to spend the bulk of the time chatting/texting with someone else while the kids are playing next to them?
