There is another forum in which I post on, in which the majority of the members are older, middle-aged males. In several threads on it, I've encountered what I think to be ageist remarks, and that sentiment seems to be shared by the majority. I see so many examples of statements such as "These teenagers have no respect, and are good for nothing punks. They have no respect for authority." The notion that all these old men share this generalization of today's youth is simply laughable. You might as well just say "all old people can't drive" or "all police eat doughnuts." What is the logic in this? I just don't get it. Some social groups thought processes just baffle me. One member even said "youth with such unmitigated arrogance, stupidity, and complete disregard for the rest of society" should be slowly and painfully euthanized. Good Lord. I needed to vent.
