My ex boyfriend and I walk to clinic walk in cause he had sore leg so we walked till we saw the dog there that look like not pitbull .. just look like something boxer dog normal size of big dog that was walk to us like back and froth walk around without leash and owner so I go ahead walk and not to touch the dog just walk away but my ex bf pulled my sweater and I yelled at him DONT PULLED MY SWEATER! then I go ahead walk to stay away from the dog but my ex bf just hit my eblow and I told him dont hit me!! so I just walk away from the dog cause he want us to be safe for the sake and I told him i am not scare of dogs and I just walk away from the dog so I was planning walk but he pulled my sweater again and I yelled at him dont pull me please! till the dog walk away then we walk. I told him if the dog bite me then I can sue the owner cause there is no leash on their neck and no owner so I can sue.

I saw the dog was walked into the stair front of the door of the house and I should have go in and tell them keep the dog to use leash but the dog already gone.

it is Ex-boyfriend not boyfriend lol we broke up last Oct 2005 and we become friends without no plm :) .. oh yeah he is wimp!!! :giggle:
 
Your ex-boyfriend did the right thing. Just out of curiosity, why would you put yourself into a dangerous situation just so you can sue the owner of the dog for not having it on a leash? I'm not saying the owner was right, but why would you approach the dog knowing it is not on a leash and frothing at the mouth...and then respond with that its ok if it bites you so you can sue the owner.
 
I know they say never show a dog any fear, because dogs that smell fear on a person, may be apt to bite the person. It's best just to ignore the dog, and keep on walking. But, if this dog kept following you, it seems there could have been something wrong with this dog. Other than that, dogs see you're ignoring them, just end up walking away anyway. Thank God nothing happened to you or your ex-boyfriend.

She didn't say that she approach to the dog, she said she kept walking away from the dog.
 
Taylor is right..

Cheri.. walking away .. wont help.. Dog can bolt and pounce on you in flash or blink of eye..

Never be around the unleash dog.. or you will regert the consquences..

for me.. if i see the dog.. i would call animal control right away.. cuz i have kids with me.. I cant protect whole kids in one sec of trauma.. :/

she is correct that I just keep walking away from the dog that I am not going to near the dog forget it like I wont go near and pat their dog. I just walk away :)

and Taylor is right too. like I walk slow not walk too fast. but the dog already walk away.
 
Once I was walked to meet my ex boyfriend at his work and I didnt see the dog was ran and sniff me then I stand up and put my arms raise up didnt want the dog bite my arms cause I didnt see the dog was ran toward me and sniff my butt!!!! lol :lol: :lol: :lol: then the dog walk away and I walk away too lol :lol: funny thing that the dog was sniff my Butt!! :lol:

Or you would not win the lawsuit against dog's owner's smartass defense laywer, not matter with leash or no leash because you did what "You asked for it".

Next time, you could call the Animal Control or "Animal Cop" then you still being hero to save this dog or that animals.

Pardon me? walking away doesn't help, so if you to approch or was near a dog, what will you do? stand there and wait until someone call the animal control?

I see nothing wrong with DeafMonkey's story, all she said was she wasn't even scared, and if something did happened then she would sue the dog owner, if she was putting herself in that situation , she would have teased or walked up front of that dog....
 
I don't understand how is DeafMonkey asking for it? if the dog was not on leash, dog could have approach her (DeafMonkey) even if she (DeafMonkey) was miles away from it?...

of course, some dogs may be dangerous if they don't get property training for a right manner toward people like strangers.

yes that is right .. when I saw dog's face was staring at us and toward to us. and I just walk away from that dog and not even want go near that dog :)
 
I apologize...I misunderstood the original post. I was picturing deaf monkey and ex-bf walking down the street and coming up on the dog. Deaf Monkey continues walking towards (or past the dog) and the ex-bf was grabbing her to not let her get near the dog. I guess you could say I screwed the pooch on that one ;)

When it comes to stray or loose animals, the best thing to do is to avoid going near them. If you can walk away, then fine....but do not run away from the dog as they are likely to give chase (and I don't know about you, but I know most dogs can run faster than me). Calmly walk away and don't make any intimidating or fast movements. If possible, walk to shelter somewhere, such as a storefront or whatever is close that you can retreat to.

Then, once you are safe, by all means, call the police. They may not be able to find the dog when they get there (happens often) but dogs should not be on the loose. You have no way of knowing that dogs demeanor...could be friendly one second and then biting you on the butt the next.
