This is a hugely interesting thing to me. As someone who loves research and has often been frustrated with what is available on the World Wide Web I was not surprised to find out that the WWW is only the surface of an ocean. Aside from the drama of criminals and intrigue that is mentioned in the Time magazine story about it, I am interested in the enormous mass of data stored here. It is like all my birthdays at once. It is also called the Invisible Web.

What I think of when I hear "invisible web" is those DAMN spider webs you never see but feel as soon as you walk through them! OMG SO GROSS! Want to see me jump around like a fool flailing about... Invisible spider webs... of doom....

I hear ya. I am mostly a commercial/industrial electrician but I do residential work as favors for friends and work on my own stuff. This means crawling around under houses and trailers and up in musty dusty old attics. It is not my favorite thing, those invisible spider webs being a creepy spooky uncomfortable part of the misery. It is Indiana Jones without the adventure or glory.
