Texas bill proposes fine for missing teacher meetings

sigh thanks god that i wont get a kid :D cuz i'm gay! :D

Gay people (Lesbians and Gays) can adopt children and when their kids go to school. They are expected to go to the meetings.:deal:

Hello all,

I was a deaf education teacher and a teacher aide for deaf children for many years. I have seen many times that parents or caregivers have neglected to attend their children's meetings due to many reasons (lame ones).

When I was a teacher, I would ask the parents what the dates and times that they would be available. They usually let me know. It takes a lot of work to prepare IEPs (Individual Education Program = Goals and objectives for the child) and set up a meeting for the audiologist, PE teacher, mainstream teachers, therapist, etc...It was usually orchestrated by the teacher (me).

It was common for the parent to cancel at the last minute. Then, I would do this whole dance over again. Then, they would cancel again. Lots of teachers in the education field are sick of parents not attending those important meetings. It is very disheartening to see that a good number of parents don’t care about their children’s education.

It was very exhausting and a total waste of my time along with many other professionals.

In closing, I support this bill.

If teachers neglected their meetings, we would be fired for sure!!! :giggle:

I think u meant to say "parents" instead of "teachers" right?

Yep, I know what u mean. Happened to me too especially those IEP meetings. GRRR

:giggle: Yes... Thanks for the heads up! :ty:

I see blood. I see parents getting back at the teachers accusing them of doing abominable things to the kids and they can do it and get away with it easy. Its gonna be a dog eat dog, cat eat cat, and an eye for an eye world of education in Texas.

Thats most stupidest legislation I've seen.... My mom has to work, etc- don't have time to go to Parent-Teacher conferences. As for my IEP, she do go and meet.

I hope they killed the bill and it will be dead. Most of time, dead bills never come alive... I know the process...
