The hours of darkness, between last Sunday evening and Monday morning, provided ample cover for some dishonest soul to break into a pick-up truck, parked at an Echo Bay residence.

The thief made off with a small black toolbox and a TTY.

A TTY is also known as a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf.

They enable deaf persons to make phone calls by typing a message on the TTY's 20- to 30-character keyboard, which is then displayed on a screen at the call receiver's location.

These messages can also be printed out.

As you can imagine the device is rather pricey and the victim is less than impressed
