Teenagers Released in Deaf Man?s Murder
On Friday, 23-year-old Raul Butler of Peach Street was killed after being allegedly attacked and stabbed to death.
Reports said Butler was deaf. He was the country’s 78th homicide for the year.
Police had initially taken three teenagers into custody for questioning but due to information coming out of the preliminary investigations they had to be released.
The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. Friday and according to reports police received information of a stabbing in the area.
Sgt. Skippings said officers responded and spoke with the mother of the deceased who informed them that just before the incident happened there was a group of young men fighting just outside her house and she asked them to leave.
According to reports, the young men did leave and they went further down the street where they continued their banter.
Sgt. Skippings added that a short while later, Butler was sent to the store to pick up a few items, but reports say he got less than 100 yards away from his house before he was allegedly attacked by the group of young men.
He was stabbed multiple times to the neck.
However, Butler was able to return home, where he collapsed.
He was taken to hospital but succumbed to injuries around 6:30 Saturday evening.
Sgt. Skippings said officers are following significant leads into this case.
