The Nassau Guardian Online Guide
A magistrate yesterday denied bail for a teenager accused of last week's fatal stabbing of a deaf man.
The 17-year-old was accompanied by his father during his arraignment for the murder of Rauol Bullard, 23.
The teen was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he made his initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez. A preliminary inquiry will be held to determine if there is sufficient evidence for him to stand trial in the Supreme Court. The Juvenile Panel will schedule a date for the start of that hearing on December 8.
The teen was represented by Raphael Moxey. However, the teen still asked for a personal copy of the charge sheet.
Bullard, a resident of Peach Street off Montrose Avenue, was stabbed as he walked to a neighborhood store on November 27, according to police. Moments earlier, his mother had reportedly chased a group of fighting teenagers from the front of her home.
