Teacher in trouble after students don Klan robes

For lacking any sense of empathy.

I see.....so you can't empathize with Group A while at the same time believing something Group B (Group A's oppressor) did was funny???

In this case a picture (Hammerzeit) of Group B with a caption made up by someone can't be funny to someone who empathizes with group A????

Glad you told me.....I like jokes of all nature. Guess I should stop all my charitable activities that benefit minorities since I can't both empathize and laugh at a joke. I would hate to be considered a hypocrite

Obviously, Steinhauer is stunned by my large vocabulary and complicated ideas. :giggle:

I think this picture is funny. I bust my guts when I first saw that. A real (dead) squirrel lying on a street facing up, claws/arms in the air with two fake GI Joe action figures posing for the camera while in fatigues and holding their fake military issued guns with both figures' own foot firmly on top of the real (dead) squirrel. The whole things is just funny.

I have an overwhelming desire to throw paint on you right now:lol:

That is hilarious. I am guessing some don't enjoy Far side comics either

WWII wasn't that long ago, youngsters. My dad and uncles fought in WWII. If you'd had not choice but to fight, you wouldn't think so kindly about German soldiers.

TxGolfer, taking the context of the following picture (a song by MC Hammer, "Can't Touch This"), is the picture funny?

The picture is funny to me, because it reminds me of MC Hammer's dance moves, NOT Nazism.

It's funny to me. Pic appears to be slipping on the ice......not sure if it is real or not. But the caption is funny

love that pix. used it several times.

wondering if it's funny if the roles were reversed... a dead person with 2 squirrel figures dressed like GI Joe.

Wirelessly posted

My grand-dad fought in WW2. He saw enemy soldiers as people who could had been friends if they had met during peacetime.

Politicans, civil services and misguided civilians-- on the other hand, he hated with a passion.

It's always that way. Remember the Christmas Eve truce during WWI? Commanders were afraid that the weren't going to be able to get the troops fighting again. Old men made the decisions and the young men had to fight the war.

:laugh2:

Now that is funny!

Is it????

Because sallyou said.....

Parody is only funny when used by a less privileged class to ridicule a privileged class. When a privileged person uses parody to ridicule people who are less privileged, it's just being a bully.

Since she asserting her intellectual supremacy......doesn't that make her a bully????? :hmm:

Also seems highly hypocritical that you endorse the personal attacks by those you agree with yet chastise attacks by those with whom you disagree.

Guess you don't get tongue in cheek humor, either.

Right, so to me...

Someone dressing up like a high-ranking party officials or attempt to make humour of such is poor taste.

Military is military. The red armband makes the big difference, however. Why? It's the ideology behind that armband. And only a few selected groups of individuals wore that in historic times anyway.

Didn't state my opinion one way or the other. Just pointed out the hypocrisy

The fact that you saw hypocrisy is indicative of the fact that you didn't get the tongue in cheek nature of the humor.

I dont find jokes about groups who have history of oppression, violence, and genocide funny.

I would rather respect my hubby's family and any other black people by not laughing at any KKK jokes.

It would make me uncomfortable if someone were to put on a KKK outfit as a joke just like if someone were to put on a Nazi uniform.

That's just me.

Careful with that spinning.....it will make ya dizzy

I am pretty sure the hypocrisy is clear to most.........after all since Sallylou has a JD and Steinhauer doesn't her mocking of his intelligence.....even when kidding.....is being a bully. That comes from her own words.
