T-Mobile Sidekick Price Skyrocket Petition

Nothing in life is free. The Sidekick is not a necessary thing to have, so if you can't afford it, too bad. There are cheaper wireless devices out there that have AIM, or a camera, or the web, or email.

Done support petition... hopefully T-Mobile will let know to T-mobile company in Canada..
:::cross finger::: :fingersx:

T-mobile is a subsidary of Deutsche Telekom. I'd try and raise a ruckus with their shareholders too. That's where the voting power comes in.

Agreement.

SMS (text-message) is cheaper, quick and simple reachable to ANYONE with mobile available. Also SMS can change into email too. :)

Dennis is absolutely right. Aren't there already several online retailers who offer Sidekicks for free of even discounted prices. Devices like the Sidekick are a luxury. Not a necessity.

I'm not signing this petition because it's related to competition. This situation is like buying DVDs at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, SAMs Club, Media Play, FYE, etc. Every place has their own price tag. Some cost more than others. If you don't like the price tag at one place, go elsewhere.

FYE (For Your Entertainment) charges very high for their DVDs. Even when the DVD titles are old, they still don't change the price. Media Play and Suncoast Video are the same company and are almost as bad as FYE. Some people don't care and still shop there anyway. I go to Walmart 90% of the time for my DVDs. 5% of the time, I go to Target. 5% of the time, I go to Best Buy.

As for the Sidekick II, I got mine for free. Yes, FREE! I got mine through another company. The reason why it was free was because it was sponsored by another two other companies. Tmobile actually charges $200 for their Sidekick II pagers. In order to make profit, they charge extra to customers in stores. If you really want cheap cell phones or pagers, look elsewhere.

Well Said Dennis.

Everyone should shopping around for the best price/deal and warranty first before buying one.

I am happy with SMS camera mobile cell phone, its better than nothing.

VamPyroX, when you received your SK2 for free, did you have to sign a service deal?

*dubious look* Is there such thing as free lunch?

It might sound like a great bargain if you got it for free or at discounted rate, but it's likely to come with more strings.

In Australia, mobile phone (cellph) is a luxury and I'm shaking head as usual about Americans complaining or stuff about SK and BB.......*shakes head again*.....

I feel like I've gone off the tangent of this topic. So I'll mosey off to bed. G'night. :)

I didn't sign the petition. I bet someone with your first name is on there, but hopefully they had the courtesy to use their last name too.

I work hard for my money and the things I buy. I'm disgusted that someone woud have the gall to complain that T-Mobile charges "too much" for a Sidekick while they're on SSI or retirement, when they also would be paying $30 a month on top of that.

I mean, really, it's like saying, "I'm too poor to buy a BMW on unemployment, even though I really can't even afford gas for the thing."

In my experience, deaf people on SSI just want more hand outs. They want free video, free computers, free internet, free TV's, free cars, free housing.... geez!

Way back before there were cell phones, states all over the U.S. launched TTY distribution programs. While I do not know the full legalities, I assume it was to help acheive functional equivalency with their hearing peers when it came to using the telephone. Plus, TTY's were durable and were 'on loan', fully paid for by PSC taxes in their respective states.

Now, even hearing people are using cell phones as their *only* phone in the household, with many people cutting off their landline's. And it would appear that Deaf people would not have a functional equivalency in using wireless telephone technology. Should the states step in and begin a wireless pager distribution program similiar to TTY's? Keep in mind that a pager is a lot smaller than a TTY, not very durable, and easily used (read: abused) by hearing people.

Just some food for thought. :)

The reason for that is because there is no wireless TTY or VCO or other accessible software for using the telephone on wireless. There is only IM or email. Those services that give out the TTY's and other telephone assistive devices are specifically for "phone" use, not for "computer" use which is what IM and email fall under.

Now, there are phones that are being tested for hearing aid compatibility and other accessible criteria, but that's not widespread at this time. I will wait until TTY programs appear for wireless devices.

There is one program that only works on a few expensive devices, and that's not going to convince those programs to give them out. Those programs like choices.

I am glad I found this thread, because I have found something I think is worth for anyone to read that I mostly agreed with:

Linky

I have bet that this would not happen. Know why? MDA is coming up and it is far better than SK, and there is potential of other device thats better than SK, and Tmo would be real stupid to kick the price higher. Maybe they are kicking now before the sales dies down... who knows?
