Filmmakers David McMahon, Sarah Burns, and Ken Burns speak at the 2012 New York Film Critics Circle Awards in New York City.

Filmmaker Ken Burns and daughter Sarah, who worked together on the documentary “[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AehmA3hTLmA"]Central Park Five[/ame],” attended the annual New York Film Critics Circle Awards ceremony in New York Monday. But it was baseball that Burns was talking about in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Asked if he would vote for first-time Hall of Fame nominees Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds , Burns, who directed the acclaimed 10-part documentary series, “Baseball,” responded with an emphatic “no.” Citing questions about the players’ steroid use, he said: “Those mother[expletive] should suffer for a while.” Well, we know how he feels.

There are more than enough news on steroids and baseball. I would not want to add to it. It is not good for the game of baseball.

It just cracks me up that Ken Burns of all people would be this blunt:

[“Those mother[expletive] should suffer for a while.” Well, we know how he feels.]

What's really sad is that the Hall of Fame doesn't feel as strongly about players and drug use as he does.

What bothers me is the records going to these guys. I think what happened to Lance Armstrong was Justice.

I don't care that these guys do drugs. I care that they take records away from those who didn't do drugs. And, it is up to the leagues to make that distinction. If they do not make that distinction, the hall should not be inducting those players.

If you are going to let Bonds in the Hall then Shoeless Joe Jackson and Pete Rose should surely get in as well.
