A committee of the State Board of Education says Idaho should test all babies and children for visual and hearing problems.
That's one of many recommendations board members discussed today with members of a legislative panel.
The board is trying to come up with a plan for providing services to the deaf and blind in Idaho.
Their work was prompted by questions about the future of the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding.
The board doesn't yet have specific recommendations regarding the school.
Today, board members told lawmakers they need more time to sift through a mountain of information and come up with new guidelines for funding and treatment.
