Any 1 have them?

I already have Star Wars Triology 'Widescreen Edition'. I m not sure if i should shell out other money for Star Wars LImited Edition. From what I understand is that this one comes with 2 DVD - One dvd is 1983 movie original theater verison and other dvd is 2004 verison.

Is it worth to buy it to see the orignial theater version of Star Wars ?

Don't buy it, they used the same masters they used for LaserDisc back in 1993. It isn't even anamorphic, it's letterboxed.

I'll rather have them use the original film negatives, not some old digital masters. Heck, they didn't even clean it up. It's quite grainy from what I hear. It's not worth buying, especially since you already have the special edition boxset.

The new DVDs contain BOTH special edition and original versions, which is why it's so damned expensive. They won't sell it without the special edition version, go figure.

They're just milking more cash out of us. I suggest we all wait till 2007 since it's the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. I wouldn't be surprised if they have plans for the DVD format which may involved the original.

Yea that what i figured. There s Star Wars "widescreen editon", "full screen edition" (why dont they just put both version in a box set gee), "with a bonus feature", etc.. Lucas dont really need $$ he is already mutherfu*ker rich so why do he need more money?

The difference between anamorphic widescreen and letterboxed widescreen is a big one.

Anamorphic widescreen, the movies are formatted for 16:9 televisions with no or as little of black bars as possible. Letterboxed movies are formatted for 4:3 televisions, they are encoded with the black bars included. It also reduce the overall quality of the video.

Yes, anamorphic widescreen movies on 4:3 will have black bars but it's automatically added by the DVD player, but you won't see them on a 16:9. Though, there are several different widescreen aspects of movies, and the wider ones will have a bit of the black bars.

I got the metal case edition from Best Buy. Now, I've got 5 copies of the Star Wars Trilogy. I got the extended edition on VHS in 1997 (or 1998?). When they released it again on VHS after Episode I came out, I got that. When they released it again on DVD after Episode II came out, I got that. Now, I got the one with both extended and original. So, I've got 5 altogether.

I hate full screen or pan & scan. Those suck. It ruins the movie when the picture pans right and left. :roll:

Sometimes, subtitles or captions show up on the black part... making it more visible.

Lumb, you are so luck! Damn it. Where I find the Star Wars Triology with Widescreen, not fullscreen? Because Star Wars Triology w/Widescreen is hard to find anywhere at store. Grr.

But I will try to go Pawn stores to see if they had Widescreen Star Wars Triology to selling or not.

I bought the special edition collector's tin that has all 3 of the original trilogy... both versions of each.

So, I've got the original version on DVD and the modified version on DVD for each episode.

VamP, I just want to get star war triology with WIDESCREEN so badly. There is hard to find these. I won't give up till I find ones. Might be ebay or go Pawn stores selling some star war triology with W/S.
